When you think of Bob Ryals, what is the first thing that you remember? Is it Belmont blue, or is it Gator orange? Is it the ball cap or the visor? Is it football, baseball or basketball? Did you sit by him in the stands or in the choir loft? No matter which it was, he always had a reserved seat.
But, Bob was so much more than these things... He loved life, he loved people, but most of all, he loved God. He took great pride in his love for family and sought to love people as an extension of his love for Christ. This week, our lives have taken a significant hit. The absence of Bob at the game, at the table, and in the choir loft is a bitter-sweet thought. But, the joy! Can you picture it? A reserved seat has been filled by a new choir member who boldly stood with hands lifted high, just a few days prior, as he watched from the pews as his wife and daughter sang on Mother's Day. Take comfort today, and let his memory be a reminder to live a life that brings glory to God. Amen
