Santia Harvell III “Man, Speedy, Berry, Dubooty, DunDil” was born on September 16, 1978, in Nashville, TN to his mother Janice (Berry) Battle and father Santia Harvell II. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19.
Santia was raised “Out East” where he graduated from Stratford High School and continued with a sports scholarship to Trevecca Nazarene University. While in college he discovered a deep passion for music. He and many of his buddies came together to form a rap group called 4KAMP/4SALE. Throughout his early adult life, he continuously showed his love for basketball and music through city wide games and showcases. After much blood, sweat, and tears poured into his craft, Santia and his friend (Gutta) started their very first music label and studio “OGM” (operation get money). Here he opened the doors and provided a musical platform for so many aspiring artists. Adding to his business portfolio he then went on to opening Big Belly’s food truck.
On February 11, 2006 & May 20, 2007, with Shandra “Dra” Nunn respectively, he welcomed his daughter and son, who easily became his most prized possession. These two became the driving force/motivation behind his every move. If he was not on the road watching “Tiea” knock down 3-point buzzer beaters, then he was at “Shawn’s” games watching him BALL!
He is preceded by in death by his mother Janice D. Battle, Grandmother Dorothy “Granny” Esaw and Grandmother Avery Berry
His smile and energy were contagious and felt throughout many rooms. He was truly a family man that respected his mother & bragged on his sister. This same respect transcended within his lifelong friendships.
Santia’s upbeat life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Santiea Harvell, Dreshawn Harvell; sister, Isaaca Harvell; brother, Santia (Alvin) Harvell; father, Santia Harvell II; stepfather, Fred Battle Sr.; stepbrother, Fred Battle Jr.; God-brother, Jerome Manning, OGM family, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
