Sherrie Gail Young (Gowin)

Sherrie Gail Young (Gowin), 64, of White Bluff, Tennessee, passed away at home with her family surrounding her on Friday, November 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tommy” Young, parents, Evelyn Parker Gowin and Dan Sheridan Gowin, a brother, James Capps Gowin, Sr., a sister, Claudia Gowin Dixon, two sisters-in-law, Melinda Gowin and Susan Gowin, and a niece, Jamie Bailey Gibbs. 

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Gail Young and her fiancé Roger Demoss, three grandchildren, Zachary Marshall Cathey, Kaylynne Grace Cathey and Kamden Thomas Young, two brothers, Danny Gowin and William Gowin, a sister-in-law, Teresa Diane Gowin, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Sherrie loved her family, especially her grandbabies. She was often visiting them just to spend time with them. Family gatherings were always a cherished time where the room would be filled with laughter, stories and plenty of good eats. Whether around the dinner table or out to eat, Sherrie taught her family and friends that life was meant to be savored and enjoyed. Her love for her family and zest for life will be remembered fondly by all who know her. She leaves a behind a legacy of love.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from four o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, in Nashville. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at one o’clock in the afternoon with visiting starting at eleven o’clock in the morning. The committal service will immediately follow the funeral service via an escorted cortege at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100, in Nashville.
