GOD called Steve Vandevender, Jr. home, suddenly, on May 18, 2021.
Steve Vandevender Jr. born March 6, 1940, in Mayhew, Mississippi to Steve Vandevender, Sr. and Bonnie S. Vandevender. Preceded in death by parents and 5 sisters, Betty Moore, Anne Cooper, Wanda Ayers, Faye Harris, and Linda Citti. Survived by sister, Mary Reed (Mark) and brother, Dr. Walt Vandevender. Beloved wife of over 60 years Elizabeth Kay Vandevender, and beloved children, daughter, Angela Kay Columber (Chris *our bonus son); son, Steven Scott Vandevender (Kimberly* our bonus daughter); 5 Grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Martin, Steven Blake Vandevender (Cyara), Ashley Brooke Vandevender (Chad NeSmith *our bonus grandson), Connor Scott Vandevender, Trinity Faith Vandevender; 4 Great-Grandchildren, Melody Elizabeth Miller, Xander Drake Vandevender, and twins Naomi Reese & Mila Bryne Vandevender, and numerous loving cousins, nephews and nieces. All are GOD's blessings of special angels.
Steve was especially blessed with many wonderful lifelong friends and some special golfing buddies, Bill Dean, Bob Butler, Al Sansom, Joe Bingham, Harold Reeves, Jakie Cook, Richard Simmons, and a host of many more wonderful friends.
Steve took great pride in being a Marine, then a successful building material salesman, an industrious home builder. One of his greatest accomplishments was starting a Custom Silk-Screening Business with dear friend Bob Myers (now golfing in Heaven with their friends, Don Woodward and Ralph Isbell). Steve loved every minute of the over 40 yrs. working in his silk-screening business, getting to work with youth groups and sports leagues throughout the area. Especially the West Nashville Sports League, and Scott Tygard, Roger Manness, Carly, and the whole great group. He passes the torch to his protégée and friend he taught the business to, Dewayne Bragg. The boys and girls will continue to play their sports, looking good in their uniforms.

Steve's love of golf had him on the greens at Riverside Golf Club 3 days a week. His last game was Sunday May 16th, he could not finish the 18th hole, first time ever. (Back together again, Steve, Bob, Don, and Ralph have played a few games by now.). Come celebrate Steve's amazing life with all who knew and cared for him. Be ready to tell your favorite stories and share your memories. Help all of us as we help him finish that 18th hole.

Steve's family offers a special thanks to Dr. William McKean, Christi, all the amazing staff at Summit Hospital with Dr. Archer and Emergency Room Staff taking such tender care of Steve's parting moments. Elizabeth Kay sends special love and thanks to neighbor angels, Shena Love, Marsha, and Mark Craig for being there for support and getting her to the hospital and following the ambulance. Thanks to all of our wonderful neighbors, Astrid, Lori, Debra, Jim, Johnny, Quinton, Faye, Francis and Toni for reaching out and offering support and comfort. Elizabeth Kay wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to dearest sister-friends Wanda Isbell and Peggy Myers, for over 45 years always being there for us. GOD sends you HIS Love in amazing abundance, just open your heart and HE will fill it always.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude's Hospital, Steve's favorite charity - To always help the children.
