Terry Wayne Harris, 72, of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was born in Nashville on November 3, 1952, to the late Theodore and Ella “Janie” Campbell Harris. Terry graduated from Cohn High School in 1971. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1976 until his honorable discharge after four years of service growing to the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a facilities engineer and retired from Centennial Medical Center after 32 years of dedicated service. Terry enjoyed being in the outdoors fishing, boating, and golfing. He also enjoyed trucks, fast cars, and the occasional trips to the casino. Terry loved cheering his Vanderbilt University Commodores every football season. He attended Donelson Presbyterian Church. Terry was very personable and never met a stranger. Above all, Terry loved his family, including his dog, Pee Wee. Terry loved others and was well-loved.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Houston; brother, Don Harris; and brother-in-law, Dave Longuevan.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda; children, Michelle Gross (Jason), Terri Jean “TJ” Richardson (Jason), and Michael Harris (Darla); grandchildren, Savannah, Andrew, Tyler, Rivers, and Colt; great-grandchildren, Silis, Xander, Luna, Nora, Graham, and Rhett; sisters, Donna Longuevan and Kathy Johnson (Terry); stepdaughter, Cynthia Sonnier (Curtis); step-grandchildren, London and McKenzie; two best friends, Jeff “Buffy” Bailey and Danny Foust; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
Terry will be laid to rest in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane in Nashville, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The committal service will commence at two o'clock in the afternoon inside the rotunda at the top of the hill next to the main office. Everyone is encouraged to meet there prior to the start of the committal.
