TROY S. PIERCE, 75, passed away July 8, 2017. He was born March 14, 1942 in Dickson, Tennessee, to J.T. and Effie Pierce.
Troy was a carpenter and a decorated United States Marine. He served in the Marine Corps from October 1959 to July 1967, during the Vietnam era, and during the Bay of Pigs invasion, where he served as a sniper. He received a Bronze medal for his M1 Garand shooting skills at Camp Perry Ohio. He was also awarded 2 Good Conduct Medals, A National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and two Unit Citations.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James H. Pierce, two sisters, Linda Pierce and Patricia Pierce.
Troy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, DeLois Pierce, Daughters, Teresa (Mario) Rey, Missie (Mike) Phillips, and James (Jodie) Pierce, Kenny and Terri Lavender Jr and Kathy (Bill) Miller . He is also survived by fourteen Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren.
Troy's life celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 12, 2017, at West Harpeth Funeral Home. He will be interred at Edgewood Cemetery, in Dickson, Tennessee, with military honors, after the service. His visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the funeral home from 6-8p.m., and before the service on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Troy's family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made to the Harpeth Heights Baptist Church Youth Ministry.
