Reverend Troy L. Slay - Age 86, passed away December 28, 2014, at Alive Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 2, 1928, Reverend Slay retired after 43 years of pastoring. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship Missouri. He was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University; he earned a Masters Degree from George Peabody College and served as the Dean of Emmanuel Bible College. He loved his family very much. He was a kind man with a gentle heart. Those who knew him loved and admired him. We know this to be true because he was our husband, Daddy, and Pa-Pa. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie; daughters, Stacie Slay (Robin Smith, fiancé); and Monica St. John (Steve); grandsons, Eric and Scott St. John; special friends, Liam and Ryan Orr. The Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 7pm, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Reverends Steve Robertson and Denzil Huff officiating. Interment will be Saturday, 10am, at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
