Velma Bradford Crowell

Velma Crowell, lovingly referred to as Gigi, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the age of 90. She was born June 16, 1925 to the late Paul and Wanda Bradford of McEwen, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Haley Crowell, and brothers Douglas Bradford and Bobby Bradford.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Haley, Jr. and Nancy Daniel Crowell; granddaughter, Jessica Crowell; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Emily Crowell and Jiby Philip; sister-in-law, Jane Bradford and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Crowell retired from the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle in 1987, where she worked in the composing room for 24 years. She instilled in her family an appreciation of nature, a love of travel, and the belief that they can do anything in life "as long as it's not illegal or immoral."

The family extends their deepest thanks to the staff of the Blakeford (Burton Court and Woodcrest) for the compassionate care shown to Velma and her family.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Pastor Rickey Page officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to Wednesday's service.
