Victoria Ann Hawkins, age 71, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2014, after a battle with cancer. She was a wonderful wife and a loving mother. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Vaughn, sons, Steve (Diana), Gary (Rebecca), and Chris (Stephanie), grandchildren Sarah Beth McGehee (Jeff), Catherine Ann, Connor Vaughn, and Grace Olivia Hawkins, sister Doris Parsons, favorite niece Jinger Loggins, nephews Greg Parson, and Jamie & Jason Taylor. She was preceded in death by parents Frank & Edna Hedgecoth, brother Buddy Hedgecoth, sister Phyllis Taylor, and nephew Jeff Hedgecoth.
Vickie graduated from Cumberland County High School and Draughons Junior College. She married Vaughn on February 24, 1962 after meeting on a blind date. She volunteered at St. Thomas hospital for more than 10 years. Prior to retirement she worked in the guidance office at Hillsboro High School and at USS Agri-chemicals. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, and home improvement projects. She was a long time member of River Road Church of Christ.
A service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 10 am at the River Road Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at the West Harpeth Funeral Home on Friday August 8, 2014 from 4pm-8pm. There will also be one hour visitation prior to the service at the church. Bro. Josh Barnett and Bro. Joe Rushing will officiate. Pall Bearers are Connor Hawkins, Jeff McGehee, Greg Parson, Joe Pake, Maurice McFarland, and Billy Travis. Honorary pall bearers are Jamie Taylor, Jason Taylor, and members of the River Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.
