Virginia Ruth Bailey

Virginia Ruth Bailey (Scribner), 100, of Nashville, died September 13, 2023. She was born in Maury County on August 6, 1923, to the late Charlie William and Ruby Webb Scribner and had just celebrated her 100^th birthday five weeks ago. Virginia attended Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ and then James Avenue Church of Christ. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and growing vegetables in her garden, especially her tomatoes. She also enjoyed listening to music and singing along to Alan Jackson.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter Bailey; brother, CJ (Frances) Scribner; and grandson, Johnny Gentry.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, David (Martha) Bailey; daughter, Faye (Michael) Combs; granddaughter, Gidget Harvey; grandson, Derek (Amy) Bailey; great-grandsons, Josh (Kristen) Harvey, Kyle, Luke (Samantha) and Brandon; great-granddaughter, Brooke Bailey; great-great-grandchildren, Nora Griffin, Errol, and Emerson Harvey; and very special friend and caregiver, Bob Holloman.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 6:00PM on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Monday, September 18, 2023, in the Chapel at West Harpeth. Services will begin at 11:00 on Monday in the Chapel with Pastor Darrell Blankenship officiating. Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
