William Edward Bass

William Edward “Bill” Bass, 87 of Nashville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at his home. He was born in Nashville on July 3, 1937, to the late William Norman and Ada Mai Woody Bass. After graduating from Cohn High School in West Nashville, William attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he was involved in the ROTC. William would go on to spend 20 years in the mortgage business beginning at Guaranty Mortgage followed by many years with First American. He then worked as a manager in the office furniture business. William was a member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church for 30 years where he served as a deacon as well as on various committees. William enjoyed woodworking, traveling, working in his yard, and reading. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. William was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

William was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen; parents, Norman and Ada Mai; and son-in-law, Randall Hayes.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Marjorie Bass; grandchildren, Craig (Melissa), Chris (Riley), and Cassie Hayes; and great-grandchildren, Leighton, Collins, Connor, and JR; Renee Hayes and extended family members.

Visitation will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Additional visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 12:00PM until 1:00PM. A Celebration of William’s Life will begin at 1:00PM in the Chapel at West Harpeth with Pastor Tom Gholson officiating. Following the service, William will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens on Highway 100 with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
