William Bruce Rainey, Jr.
02/04/1957 ~ 12/26/2015

Bruce spent his early years growing up in Spring Hill, TN., where he became an Eagle Scout, the highest ranking attainable in the Boy Scouting program. He was a member of Troop 176.

He attended Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, TN., and later graduated from Indian Springs high school in Birmingham, AL., as a Nation Merit Scholar and member of the Southeast Soccer team his senior year. Bruce then spent two years at the University of Virginia before graduating from the University of Idaho with a major in Physical Anthropology.

His time out West nurtured his passion for both snow skiing and mountain climbing, which he truly excelled in. One of his most notable climbing feats was reaching the summit of Mt. Rainier in Washington State.

Bruce worked for Orion Building Corporation in Nashville, TN., for several years before starting his own successful general contracting business, C.B. Construction. Architects and clients loved working with him due to his honesty and dedication to completing projects on time and within budget. His motto was "No Change Orders".

At home he loved to cook his specialty dishes of shrimp boil and seafood gumbo, and also an occasional grilled steak for friends and family. Since he was a skilled fisherman and gamesman, his game dinners were always fun for everyone. He proudly displayed his 32 pound Rockfish caught on Percy Priest Lake in his home.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 26 years, Tamra M. Rainey, daughter, Evelyn Dale Rainey, mother, Jane McQuiddy Rainey Longhurst, brother, John Houston Randolph Rainey and niece, Erin Clayton Rainey. He was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia Burton Rainey and father, William Bruce Rainey, Sr.

A time of visitation for the family will be on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 11:00am until 1:00pm, at The Gathering Hall of the Woodmont Christian Church (Hillsboro Road in Green Hills).
