William Arnold Silsbee, 88, departed this life on Sunday, November 09, 2014, at Broadmore Senior Living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and arrived at his Heavenly home. He was born February 11, 1926, in Winona, Minnesota, to Sidney Bibbins and Caroline Thode Silsbee. He was married to Lois Jean Young on May 21, 1949, at St Martin's Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years; children Sharon Silsbee Poll (Richard), Gillett, AR., Brian William Silsbee (Kathy), Jonesboro, AR., Marcia Jean Silsbee, Nashville, TN., David Bruce Silsbee (Sharon), Shalimar, FL., and Kathleen Silsbee Malin., Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Sarah Poll Gorman (John), Little Rock, AR., Leah Poll Winningham(Jerry), Cabot, AR., Erika Silsbee, Jonesboro, AR., Nathan Silsbee, Jonesboro, AR., Allison Silsbee, Miami, FL., Andrew Silsbee, Charlotte, NC, Matthew Malin, Murfreesboro, TN., Austin Malin and McKensey Malin, Smyrna, TN; and four great grandchildren; Maxwell Gorman, Little Rock, AR., Addilyn Winningham, Cabot, AR., Zane Dorton, Jonesboro, AR., and Chance Chamlies, Jonesboro, AR.; brother Charles Bibbins Silsbee, DeWitt, AR; and sister Carol Thode Gunderson, Winona, Mn. `
He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Mertz during World War II.
He worked as an accountant for US Steel.
He enjoyed bowling, golf, singing in Barbershop Choruses and Quartets and creating and maintaining beautiful rose gardens.
He enjoyed singing in church choirs and serving as treasurer, usher and various other offices in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bellevue, Tennessee, with family visitation following and interment at 1:00 pm at Veteran's Cemetery, Pegram, Tennessee.
